The contemporary art exhibition themed “Where the Spirit Returns to”, which opened at Jinji Lake Art Museum in SIP on Mar 16, wrapped up recently with a great success. Statistics show that it was visited by about 40,000 people on site, and viewed by about 26,000 netizens on line.

The exhibition brought together about 80 works by 22 contemporary artists, including paintings, sculptures, installations and audio-visual works which embody spiritual explorations and reflections on life.

The inflatable giant panda created by renowned Chinese artist Zhao Bandi was among the best-loved exhibits during the event, and a series of online and offline pairing activities attracted thousands of participants.

The live stream of a salon session held during the exhibition to discuss the power of art over time attracted more than 13,000 viewers, and another event integrating the exhibition with music performances broke the mode of conventional exhibition viewing.

It is worth mentioning the exhibition was paired with an art co-creation project themed “Gravitation of City”, under which about 200 participants having participated in SIP’s early-stage development contributed things with special meaning to them for the creation of a magnetic installation led by artist Fu Zhongwang.
