The Exhibition of Outcomes of the “Life After 8p.m.: Community Art Portrait Project”, sponsored by the Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art, kicked off at Jingcheng Neighborhood Center in SIP on June 28. On display are 182 works created by residents in different communities.
The project, launched in April, included six events carried out in Jingcheng and Xincheng communities to encourage the participating residents to record moments of their lives and create art works based on that.
About 400 residents participated in the events to share their observations on their communities and create phenakistoscopes to showcase memorable moments of their lives.
In addition to viewing the exhibits, the visitors can paint blank umbrellas with different patterns to tell their stories about communities.
Moreover, a lecture on links between art museums and communities was given on the opening day.
